Getting Started

What’s included in the RoamVitals Hub kit?

The kit includes the RoamVitals Hub, a power supply, and a USB cable. Sensors are included in bundle kits or available separately. See the Shop for current kit configurations.

What do I need to get started?

You need: the RoamVitals Hub, at least one sensor, a smartphone with a browser, and an internet connection (campground Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot). No app download required.

How does the hub connect to the internet?

During setup, the hub creates a temporary Wi-Fi network your phone connects to. The setup wizard guides you through connecting the hub to your campground Wi-Fi or your mobile hotspot. Once connected, the hub syncs data to the cloud automatically.

Does RoamVitals work without an internet connection?

The hub can buffer some readings locally during brief connectivity gaps, but real-time alerts and dashboard access require an active internet connection. A local-only viewing mode is not currently supported. Pro plan users will have the option to add a cellular backup connection for improved reliability, billed per hub rather than per account.

What browsers and phones are supported?

Any modern browser on iOS or Android — Safari, Chrome, Firefox. The app is also tested on desktop browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari). No app download from the App Store or Play Store is required.

Hughes Power Watchdog Integration

Which Hughes Power Watchdog models work with RoamVitals?

RoamVitals is compatible with Hughes Power Watchdog devices across their product line. Compatibility is maintained on a best-effort basis and expanded as we map new models and firmware versions. Check our Compatibility page for the current confirmed list. RoamVitals is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hughes Autoformers.

Does RoamVitals control my Power Watchdog?

No. RoamVitals reads data from your Power Watchdog over Bluetooth only — it is a read-only integration. It never sends commands to or interferes with your Power Watchdog device in any way. Your existing electrical protection remains exactly as configured.

How do I pair my Power Watchdog with RoamVitals?

Make sure your Power Watchdog is powered on and within Bluetooth range of the RoamVitals Hub (approximately 30 feet). The hub automatically scans for compatible devices and begins reading data. A Power Watchdog card should appear in your dashboard within a few minutes.

My Power Watchdog isn’t being detected. What do I try?

First, confirm both devices are powered on and within approximately 30 feet of each other. Try restarting the RoamVitals Hub from the app (Settings → Hub → Restart). If the issue persists, contact us — include your Power Watchdog model number and we’ll help you diagnose it.

Alerts & Notifications

How do I set up SMS alerts?

Log into app.roamvitals.com, go to Account → Notifications, and enter your mobile number. You’ll receive a verification text to confirm. Free plan users have a monthly SMS limit; Plus and Pro plans include unlimited SMS.

How do I set up push notifications?

RoamVitals uses Pushover for push notifications. You’ll need a Pushover account (free 7-day trial, then a small one-time device fee). Once you have your Pushover User Key, add it in Account → Notifications → Push. Pushover sends notifications to iOS and Android.

Why am I not receiving alerts?

Check the following: (1) Your hub is online and connected — look for the “Connected” indicator in the app. (2) Your alert thresholds are set and active for the relevant sensor. (3) For SMS — verify your phone number is correct and you haven’t exceeded your monthly limit. (4) For push — verify your Pushover User Key is entered correctly. If none of these help, contact support.

How do I change my alert thresholds?

Log into app.roamvitals.com, navigate to Sensors, and select the sensor you want to configure. Adjust the high and low threshold values. Changes take effect immediately — no hub restart required.

Plans & Billing

Can I try RoamVitals free before buying a paid plan?

Yes. The Free plan is available to all users: five sensors, 30-day history, and storage for up to two hubs. No credit card required to use the Free plan.

How many hubs can I add to my account?

Hub count is not part of your plan. Every plan, including Free, stores data for up to two hubs. That covers a second rig, or the overlap while you are selling one and buying the next.

If you need storage for more than two hubs, request it from Account → Hubs and we will raise your limit at no charge. We ask rather than making it automatic only because an account quietly accumulating hubs is usually a sign of a shared login, not a bigger fleet. If you are running a genuine fleet, talk to us about Enterprise, where the limit is lifted permanently.

How do I upgrade or change my plan?

Log into app.roamvitals.com → Account → Plan & Billing. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.

What happens to my history if I downgrade?

Your data is preserved. History beyond the new plan’s retention window becomes inaccessible (not deleted) for a grace period. Upgrading restores access immediately. We’ll notify you before any data is permanently removed.

Hardware

How are sensors powered?

Sensors are battery-powered. Battery type and expected life will be specified on each product’s page in the Shop. Replacement batteries are standard consumer sizes.

Is the hub weatherproof?

The hub is designed for indoor RV use only. Do not install it in locations exposed to direct moisture, outdoor conditions, or temperature extremes beyond its rated operating range. Sensors are designed for indoor placement as well.

What’s the Bluetooth range between sensors and hub?

Approximately 30 feet in open space. Metal surfaces, cabinetry, and wall materials can reduce range. For the best coverage in larger rigs, place the hub in a central location. A second hub can extend coverage across a longer rig, and hub count is not limited by your plan.

My hub isn’t connecting. What do I try?

(1) Confirm the hub is powered and the status light is on. (2) Try connecting your phone to the hub’s Wi-Fi network again and re-running the setup wizard. (3) Confirm your internet connection (campground Wi-Fi or hotspot) is working on another device. (4) Power-cycle the hub by unplugging it for 10 seconds. If the problem persists, contact support with a description of the light pattern you’re seeing.

Warranty & Returns

What does the 1-year warranty cover?

The RoamVitals hardware limited warranty covers manufacturing defects for one year from the date of purchase. It does not cover physical damage, liquid damage, or misuse. To make a warranty claim, use the contact form with your order number and a description of the issue.

How do I return a product?

See our Return Policy for the full process. Unopened products may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. Opened products may be returned within 30 days if defective or if you’re not satisfied — contact us first and we’ll make it right.
